Fake Plastic Rice Discovered in China, Beware Its Al Over Asia

Rice is the staple food of Asians. It is part of every meal in all the households especially here in the Philippines. With the increase of demand for rice, many were provoked to add fillers with rice for the purpose of gaining more profit and coping with the high demand. It would be acceptable if these fillers are edible and will not jeopardize the health of the people but sadly, this is way too far from reality.

To know what we are talking about, better watch the following video.
A video of a Chinese rice factory showing how their rice was being processed shocked a lot of netizens. In the video, the alleged Chinese rice factory was shown manufacturing some plastic in form of rice grains through extrusion. I was believed that the pellets are composed of plastic resin mixed with potatoes and sweet potatoes and sometimes sprayed with a scent similar to fresh rice grains.

When these pellets are mixed with the actual rice grains, it will be very difficult to identify which are the real ones.  The plastic component remains hard after cooking. To make it worse, these plastic pellets may cause serious health problems when certain amount is consumed.

The Chinese fake rice was reportedly being exported to Asian countries such as India, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam.

However, the National Food Authority said that there are no reported incidents that fake had reached the Philippines.
